- The Raceland Stainless Exhaust Header for the Mazda Miata MX5 NB 1.8L is made from the highest grade Stainless Steel T-304 and mandrel bent for peak performance. This mandrel bent header fits perfectly onto the cylinder head. Mandrel bent means the tubing is laid inside the metal mold before it is shaped to its size. With mandrel bending there is hardly any distortion. Normally, when a tube is bent, it becomes smaller in the bent area. With mandrel bending the inner tube dimension stays the same to get maximum flow and therefore more horsepower and torque. These headers will give you an increase in horsepower of 8 to 12 at maximum rpm and a substantial increase in torque resulting in a much better throttle response at any rpm. Please note the horsepower increase is dependant on the air intake changes and/or compression increases and/or cam shaft changes.
- Because the headers are a direct bolt on design, fitted with pre-mounted CNC machined, stainless, flanges which fit directly to your cylinder head, it is easy to install this header. At the end of the header system there is a flange that bolts to the present exhaust system. This connection may require some fabrication; this depends on your present exhaust system.
- Our Mazda Miata MX-5 header system does include the lambda sound or also called O2 sensor welded onto the header pipe at the correct location.
- Please note installation instructions are not included we highly recommend you have the headers installed at an automotive repair shop.
- We recommend retightening the nuts that hold the header to the cylinder head 1 week after installation. Header studs and nuts are not included.
- It is best to clean the headers with 00 size steel wool on a monthly basis. This steel wool is available from any hardware store.
