The Raceland Stainless exhaust header for the Golf II and III 16V gives you 14 to 16 horsepower increase at maximum rpm and substantial torque increase resulting in much better throttle response at any rpm. These mandrel bent headers fit perfectly onto the cylinder head. Mandrel bent means the tubing is laid inside the metal mold before it is shaped to its size. With mandrel bending there is hardly any distortion. Normally, when a tube is bent, it becomes smaller in the bent area. With mandrel bending the inner tube dimension stays the same to get maximum flow and therefore more horsepower and torque. You can use your standard 02 Lambda sound sensor system again (for smog and engine management), there is a female plug welded onto the number 4 pipe. Our header comes with a pre-mounted thick stainless flange to easily mount the headers to your standard exhaust system or to your performance exhaust system. It may require some fabrication; this depends on your present exhaust system.
Recommended Maintenance:- We recommend retightening the nuts that hold the header to the cylinder head 1 week after installation. Header studs and nuts are not included.
- It is best to clean the headers with 00 size steel wool on a monthly basis. This steel wool is available from any hardware store.
